Kristin Bedford, Prelicensing, Postlicensing, & Continuing Education Instructor
Kristin is a native of Maryland and began her real estate career on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. As a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising and Design. Kristin has spent the past 20 years selling real estate as an agent. Kristin is passionate about teaching and is committed to providing exceptional education to her prelicensing students. Seeing her students pass their real estate exam and fulfilling their dreams of becoming a licensed NC real estate broker is what makes Kristin happy. Family is also incredibly important to Kristin, and as a mother of 4, she understands balancing career and family, while trying to study and learn a new career.
Pam Berry, Postlicensing & Continuing Education Instructor
Pam Berry has had an active real estate license since 1979. She has been teach prelicensing, postlicensing and continuing education since 1996. Having been a consistent, multi-million producer, she still works actively with buyers and sellers. Her career has included Broker-in-Charge for many years as well as a sales manager helping many agents further their real estate careers. Hands on experience adds to her firsthand knowledge she shares with her students attending her classes. Students who take her courses sign up again and again as repeat students. Everyone loves Pam's approachable demeanor and her funny sense of humor, and so will you!
Stephanie Fessel, Education Director
Stephanie is a native of Dallas, Texas. Prior to moving to Wilmington in 2017, she and her family lived in Charlotte, NC for 18 years. Stephanie is the Vice President of Education for Intracoastal Realty. In her current role, she oversees training and agent development for Intracoastal Realty, including the company’s exclusive Pathways to Excellence training program for new and seasoned agents. She is also the Director of the firm's real estate school, Intracoastal Real Estate Academy. A career sales trainer and former real estate agent herself, Fessel brings practical application and real world experiences to each of her continuing education classes.
Phillip Galloway, Founder
Phillip Galloway is the founder of The Market Place Academy, now known as Intracoastal Real Estate Academy. Phillip retired in 2019 and is now living the good life traveling around the country with his wife in their motorized RV. He is an active real estate broker and has 50 plus years of experience in residential & commercial sales and leasing.
Laurie Ann Gardner, Prelicensing, Postlicensing, & Continuing Education Instructor
After growing up in Eastern, NC, and moving around to different areas of the state, Laurie Ann was drawn back east by her love for the beach and Wilmington’s relaxed, coastal lifestyle. Her passion for real estate was born out of many years of property management, buying and selling houses and home renovations. She is a graduate of UNC and has her MBA from Duke University. Laurie Ann is an active real estate broker assisting both buyers and sellers in the Wilmington area. She loves working with people and strives to provide the highest quality of education to her students. In addition to teaching, Laurie Ann uses her real estate expertise to write and develop course content and materials for one of the largest online real estate education providers in the nation.
Jim Garrison, Continuing Education Instructor
Jim Garrison started his career in the real estate industry in 1984. Jim’s interest in finance and bringing the deal to closing is what lead him to migrate to the lending side of real estate transactions 30 years ago. Jim is passionate about structuring real estate deals in a manner that is beneficial to the homebuyer. Jim also enjoys the challenge of aiding Realtors in learning the art of making the sale happen. This combination of experience and passion blended with his engaging communication style and dynamic PowerPoints removes the boring out of his CE class.
John Starling, Continuing Education Instructor
John Starling brings more than three decades of relevant experience to his role as founder, President, and Tax Code 1031 Exchange Specialist at National Realty Exchange Corporation (NRX) in Wilmington, NC. At the helm of NRX since 2006, John Starling leverages his considerable expertise in finance and real estate to assist clients in Wilmington, NC, and beyond in minimizing their capital gains tax commitments. Aside from his work at NRX, he consults for Wilmington, NC-based law firm Eugene B. Davis, Jr., P.C., on a range of matters concerning commercial and residential real estate. Mr. Starling actively involved with Mr. Davis has helped facilitate and close more than 14,000 real estate transactions with the firm, taking part in purchases and sales, contract and lease negotiations, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Stephen Sulkey, Continuing Education Instructor
Stephen J. Sulkey holds the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) designation from the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBCCAM), and the Association Management Specialist (AMS) and Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designations from Community Associations Institute (CAI), as well as a North Carolina Real Estate Broker License. He has managed community associations for twenty years, with a decade of property management before that. Stephen has taught courses to community managers as well as continuing education courses to real estate agents. He also holds college degrees in both ornamental horticulture and Western philosophy.
